Johnnie Franklin Thomas, 82 of the Edwards Rd. Russellville, Kentucky died on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born Monday, December 6, 1926 in Logan Co., Kentucky, the son of the late Byrd Thomas and the late Minnie (Grisham) Thomas. He was the husband of Ruthel (Wilson) Thomas, who survives. He was retired from the State Highway Dept.and from farming. He served in the National Guard for 19 years and was a Veteran of Korea. He was a member of Oak Forrest Baptist Church. Surviving are sons, Billy Franklin Thomas - (Patty) of Nebo, KY, Gary Dale Thomas - (Janeen) of Lewisburg, KY and Ricky Charles Thomas - (Roseann) of Russellville, KY, daughters, Vickie Whittemore - (Johnnie) of Russellville, KY and Sheila Richardson - (Charlie) of Russellville, KY, brother, Elby Thomas of Lewisburg, KY, sisters, Trucella Thrift of Rockfield, SC and Estelle Swerock of Russellville, KY; 9 grand children; 4 step grand children; 6 great grand children and 6 step great grand children. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located at 612 Stacker St Lewisburg, Kentucky 42256 with the Rev. Joe Simmons and Pastor Chris Cowen officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Lewisburg, KY. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2009, and from 8:00 AM to 11:15 AM on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E.
