Jo Ann Gower September 28, 1943 - March 12, 2016 Jo Ann Gower, 72, of Henderson, Kentucky, died on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born September 28, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James Cooper and the late Mary Maxey Cooper. A native of Arkansas, Jo Ann Cooper attended college in Memphis before marrying Ben "Bill" Gower on September 10, 1964. She was a devoted mother and wife, and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jimmy Buffett concerts, SEC football and basketball, playing Scrabble and the piano, and watching game shows on television. She loved to cook, and will be remembered for her melt-in-your-mouth garlic cheese grits. In addition to her husband, Jo Ann leaves a son, Jim Gower - (Misty) of Saginaw, MI, daughters Tammy Gower of Owensboro, KY, and Kim Graham - (Jeff) of Nicholasville, KY, a brother, John Cooper - (Kim) of Wynne, AR, a sister, Bettye Kelly - (Wilsey) of Vicksburg, MS; two grandchildren, Catherine Graham and Evan Gower, and sisters-in-law Lillian Winn - (Michael) of Louisville, KY, and Susan Gower of Lewisburg, KY. She was predeceased by her brother Jim Cooper and brother-in-law Ed Gower. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 18, at Lewisburg Cemetery.
