James Earl Whitaker

James "Sompa" Whitaker, 70 of Lewisburg, Kentucky died on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born Saturday, September 2, 1950 in Lewisburg, Kentucky, the son of the late Robert Whitaker and the late Myrtle Jenkins. He was a logger and a farmer, and also attended BOAT Church on Lake Malone. Surviving are a very special friend, Marilyn Smith of Lewisburg, KY; brother, John Whitaker of Lewisburg, KY; sisters, Jo Ann Talley of Elkton, KY, Virginia Willis of Lewisburg, KY and Linda Willis of Scottsville, KY. Sompa was also a very special father to Terry Smith, Peggy Smith, Pamela Armstrong, and Melvin Smith. A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. located at 252 E. Green St. Lewisburg, Kentucky 42256 with Bro. Garry Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Wileys Chapel Cemetery, Lewisburg, KY. The family will receive friends after 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg, Kentucky. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Due to current mandates and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is required that a mask be worn at all times while inside the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Price Funeral Home, Inc. to help with funeral expenses.
