David Alan Franklin, 68, of Lewisburg, Kentucky passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 20, 2024, in his home with family at his side.
David was born on November 13, 1956 in Bowling Green, Ky. to the late Ruble Franklin and Jo Ann Button Franklin, who survives.
He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1974 and obtained a degree in electronic technology. David began his career employed for many years at McGown’s TV Sales and Service, and retired from Quad Graphics as electrical supervisor.
Surviving David, is his wife of 45 years, Andra Bagby Franklin, of Lewisburg. Also surviving are their three children: Nathan (Jessica) Franklin of Lewisburg, Kirsten Franklin of Bowling Green, and Austin Franklin of Lewisburg. He was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Mary Kate. Surviving their grandfather are his grandsons: Aidan, Talon, Phoenix, and Luca.
David was talented in his ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair anything from a television to a printing press. He loved to play sports as a young man and when the kids came along, he enjoyed teaching and coaching them to play with good sportsmanship values. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing-especially with his dad and sons.
Things David enjoyed were: traveling, concerts and music (especially John Prine), working on home and garden projects, astronomy, woodworking, target practice, photography, playing ping pong matches with his sons-and winning, and above all else spending time with his family.
David had many skills and interests, but some of his strongest attributes were being a great son, husband and father, an honest and good man, true to his word, and of a good strong moral character. David had been saved as a young man, and he lived a life that reflected his deep belief and Christian values in his own private way. David will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Cremation was chosen with a private memorial to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., which served David and his father with caring and compassion, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
