Ann Marie Drenon, 87, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Auburn Nursing Center in Auburn, Kentucky. She was born aboard ship in the Atlantic Ocean on August 3, 1924, to the late Julia and John Stangowitz, who were emigrating from Germany to Saskatchewan, Canada. She served in the Canadian Army during WWII, moved to Michigan in 1950 to work as a sales manager for a cosmetics company, and became a U.S. citizen in 1955. After the death of Mrs. Drenon's husband, Floyd Drenon, she moved from California to her son's farm near Lewisburg in 1986. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister Margaret McLeod, and brothers Joseph, Pius, George and Paul Stangowitz, all of Canada, and brother Farnsworth Owen of Florida. Mrs. Drenon was a member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Lewisburg Senior Citizens Group and the Butler County and Lewisburg Homemaker Clubs. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 21, at 5:00 p.m. at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 East Green St. Lewisburg, Kentucky, with Brother Joe Simmons officiating. Friends may visit on Friday, Oct. 21, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Drenon is survived by her son Gary Calery and wife Mary Kay of Lewisburg; daughters Deborah Hawn of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Laurie Calery of Fresno, California; her sisters Doris Akerstrom and Rose George, both of Camrose, Alberta, Canada, Loretta Reid of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, and Josephine Mackie of Orleans, Ontario, Canada; her brother Peter Stangowitz, of Camrose, Alberta, Canada; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
